The split

Type a number. See the five.

The same 55 / 5 / 10 / 15 / 15 the videos use, applied to whatever hits your account after tax. Nothing you type leaves your browser.

  • Essentials · 55%$1,375
  • Guilt-free · 5%$125
  • Debt · 10%$250
  • Savings · 15%$375
  • Investing · 15%$375

Nothing left floating. The percentages don’t care what you make: they work at $150 and at $8,000.

What each bucket is.

55%
Essentials: rent, utilities, groceries, transport, insurance, the minimums. If yours is over 55% today, that’s the number to work on, not the coffee.
5%
Guilt-free: spent on purpose, gone by the end of the month, no shame.
10%
Debt: above the minimums, at the highest rate first. No debt? It goes to savings until the emergency fund is full, then to investing.
15%
Savings: the emergency fund first, then the things with a date on them.
15%
Investing: automatic, on payday, into something boring.
